Always Be Thankful For Your Memories

Hey fellow dads,

A year back, my wife and I decided to spice things up for our 14th wedding anniversary by taking some goofy 80s-90s parent-style pictures. Let me tell you, it had been ages since we did something as silly as that, and let me assure you, our marriage was in need of a good dose of fun. Not because we were struggling, but because those pictures made me realize how much I genuinely enjoy her company—something I hadn’t felt in a while.

To be frank, three years ago, during one of the tumultuous peaks of our relationship, we couldn’t have imagined enjoying an experience like the one Megan and Joe from Vim Studios created for us recently. Just think, on our 10th anniversary, we spent the entire drive back from LAX arguing about whether to keep a credit card or not, all because I was deep into reading Dave Ramsey’s book. Yeah, I know, eye roll! So, it was a breath of fresh air that this time around, nothing more exciting than some good old-fashioned fun and silly photos happened. I can’t wait to share them with you all later!

Reflecting on the past isn’t always a downer. It’s like a perfect window to track how far you’ve come since those memories. Today, I vividly remembered how absurd our arguments were back then, debating whether to pay cash or keep a credit card for emergencies. That was me, caught up in the whole Dave Ramsey mindset. And today, nothing of that sort. I recalled that three years can feel both long and short, that a lot can change in that timeframe. I remembered how close we were to divorce, how I thought I could do without her, and boy, does it feel good not to feel that way anymore.

I won’t sugarcoat it and claim every day is fantastic, but I’m just grateful it’s not what it used to be.

🍻Cheers to growth and rediscovering the joy in our relationships!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I hope your thanksgiving was as wonderful as our was this past Thursday. My 2 oldest children came home from school. And I was able to spend time with the people I love the most. And it is our current tradition to blast this song in the house during the thanksgiving season.
